I suppose I can at least take heart in the fact that I'm one of the lucky ones to be admitted to a private university where they do spend money on the students. Yeah, getting my masters is costing me an arm and a leg, and I'm gonna have a huge chunk of debt when I get out, but at least I see where my money is going. The alumni association and career management center paid more attention to me before I even set foot on campus than my undergrad school did in 4 years of attendance and 4 years post-grad.

You can spend more of your money on a Biology 101 class at a private university than you do at a public one or a community college but you can't tell there's really that big of a difference.

Or you can read a damn book.

I educated(!) my son about this sort of thing when he was set on going to an ivy league uni. To a large extent, it's branding and you're paying extra for the name.

Gurl, you don't even have to tell me twice. My collge costs less than my high school, I did the whole private school BS and I'm glad my parents finally forced me out of it.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE PRICE TAG DOESN'T UP THE KNOWLEDGE?
