Ministers have caved in to backbench pressure to step up the level of independent counselling women receive before terminating a pregnancy, to the anger of some MPs who believe the government is playing “politics” with women’s abortion rights.

Signed. I submitted a petition last night to oppose Dorries' proposal but I doubt it'll be confirmed. If this does go through, I can easily see it leading to Dorries' other plan to have the time limit lowered to 20 weeks. Because women who have late term abortions do it for shits and giggles!

Dear god I really hate this witch! Before she embarks on her mission to make abortion illegal I would advise her to sit down and watch Vera Drake...

Is she seriously suggesting that Marie Stopes' trained councillors are in some way trying to force women to have abortions? They are there to help them by NOT dicking them around, causing as much delay and distress as possible, with propaganda and scare stories. What next? That we have to have signed permission from the man involved (regardless of the circumstances of conception) before we take control of our own bodies? Okay, that might be a bit OTT but the whole thing is ridiculous.
