This. People are seeing on her face what they already think.

If she was a progressive candidate, people would read something different into the photograph.

I'm honestly surprised the outrage is about the picture and not the "Queen of Rage" thing. That's what struck me as objectionable when I first saw the cover.

Why, if you don't mind my asking?

I don't know, if I were her (or her campaign people, or her supporters), that's what I would zero in on as worth objecting to, and see as a bigger sign of Newsweek's bias than the picture itself.

ETA: Which still doesn't really explain why, I guess I just figure her supporters believe that there's more to her and her candidacy than her being the "queen of rage" (whatever that even means), and would find it more problematic that that's what Newsweek focused on.

Hmm, I didn't think in these terms, thanks for explaining. I don't know, I don't see a problem with the headline because I think Bachmann is pretty full of rage, but you're right, if I were her I wouldn't want people to think that was all I had to offer.

Looks like a normal (just not soft-focus-flattering) expression, except that it emphasizes that the tops of her pupils are visible, IYKWIM, which tends to make one look a bit too over-excited. Are her eyes normally like that, or is it the angle?

Reading about what that photographer did with John McCain's photos, regardless of your feelings on the man, is appalling. That's ridiculously unprofessional.

Feel however you want to feel, but what she did is a good way to screw one's career, and for good reason.
