Russell T Davies: ‘Cameron and Clegg are evil’

Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies has launched an outspoken attack on David Cameron and Nick Clegg over spending cuts to the BBC.

Davies, who is one of the BBC’s most senior writers, called the leaders “savage and evil people” and claimed the Conservative Party was “buffoonish” but “lethal as a laser”.

I'm torn between agreeing with him and mocking his terrible way with words.

Well, let's face it. Moffat always wrote snappier dialogue.

Davies also claimed that the BBC would face more cuts and that the 9pm watershed was more “stringent” than ever.

His remarks came as Torchwood star John Barrowman revealed that the new series would be the sexiest yet, with “man sex” and “full-on” nudity.

LOL. I love John Barrowman.

Though... I know Torchwood is airing in the US on Starz now, but is it airing on BBC at the exact same time (and since they mentioned 9PM is that when it's going to air)? Or are we going to start entering into a bizarro universe where the US fans get episodes before the UK ones?

No no, you see, we in the U.S. have to preview the man-sex episodes for the Brits. Want to make sure we don't send you anything too... inappropriate. *shifty eyes*

actually, the U.S. will be in its collective bunk

But I thought we in the US get collective heart attacks and clutch our pearls anytime anything overtly sexual is shown on TV unless it's on Showtime and sometimes even then?

I'll only agree to let you preview if you make sure that what we get sent is inappropriate enough.

“They’ll freeze the licence fee and persuade Daily Mail readers it’s the right thing to do by saying they’re getting rid of all those digital channels they don’t watch, that’s the language they’ll use.”
Chris Patton (once a Tory, always a Tory) is already threatening BBC 3 and 4 with the axe in exchange for saving the World Service.

I hate all Tories. The end.

Patton, is he the same guy who was the last Governor of Hong Kong before the handover to China? Everytime I hear of that name, I'm thinking that.

I believe you are correct.

Damn, 'cause my parents are fans of him because of his time as governor and they're generally left leaning (well, my dad is, mom is more center). *goes to research on Patton*

“To them it’s a tax and they want to get rid of it."

This is a profound statement of a mindset.

At the risk of generalizing, and I won't say that all "whoever" is "all" this way, but I can see a person, looking at Public Broadcasting, or Planned Parenthood, or whatever thing that person doesn't benefit from and likely has never experienced or thought about, as just a "tax." Take away the function and form of a thing, and take it down to just a sum of money, TAKEN from the person... anyway... he said it better (speaking of his way with words):

"To them it’s a tax and they want to get rid of it."
