Gennette Cordova said she did not even think the photo was real.

It was nearly 9 p.m. on a Friday when Ms. Cordova, who was preparing to head out for the night with a friend, logged onto Twitter and discovered that Representative Anthony D. Weiner had sent her a suggestive photo of himself in gray boxer briefs.

“It didn’t make any sense,” Ms. ( Read more... )

But Ms. Cordova said the image was not in keeping with the tenor of their previous interactions.

“I still didn’t get the joke part of it,” she said.

All I need to know, tbh. One case of sexual harassment is one case too many. Now all of his pro-women monologues just feel like insincere pandering in order to attract women. It's disgusting and I feel awful for all of his female constituents he fooled into believing his sentiments were genuine.

Way to go Weiner, even if that wasn't your intent, you're still coming out of this looking like a nothing more than an egomaniacal pig. Sexual harassment is never okay and all of this could have been avoided if you'd simply asked, "Is this okay?" HOW FUCKING HARD WOULD THAT HAVE BEEN?

Also, a warning to you all... don't read articles about this in the mothership. Do not read the comments. Do not participate.

Exactly. Supposedly fighting for women's rights in Congress means very little when those doing it don't practice what they preach.

Has anyone brought up Bob Packwood. He was a bit before your time, but he was a similar case.

I meant Weinergate. The media wouldn't give a crap about the sexual harassment if it hadn't been Weiner or some other dbag politicac who was the perpetrator.

Sorry, but it's not a joke when someone sends pics of their junk, covered or not, to another person unsolicited. Ever. It's sexual harassment, plain and simple.

/sigh

And I liked you, Weiner.

I'm glad she made this statement because there is some mumbling here in NYC that she was coached and it was consensual and now I can make a clear judgment on Weiner (although the teenage one with the creepy text did it for me).

All I can say about Weiner is that I wish he will never run for office ever again and he needs to keep down, not take a leave of absence. Sexual harassment is not a joke and humiliating to the victim and degrade them into things.
