Peru election offers voters stark choice Runoff election offers choice between Keiko Fujimori, daughter of corrupt former leader, and leftwing Ollanta Humala
Man, I really don't know who I'd vote for. I'm half-Peruvian and my Peruvian cousin who's currently living with my family (here in the States) is all about NOT wanting Humala, though he's not too excited about Fujimori, considering the history.
I'm leaving for Peru in less than 3 weeks to live for about 5 months, so I'm pretty interested to see how this will turn out.
I'm having trouble figuring out how much of a radical Ollanta really is. Hard to understand how much of it is reality and how much of it are conservatives/media with their usual fear tactics.
Exactly! Like, I really don't care for Fujimori, and I really can't understand how the daughter of a man convicted of crimes against humanity (who was involved with his administration during his presidency) has such a legitimate chance at being elected, but on the other hand, I feel like Humala suddenly becoming less "leftist" at the time of elections seems a bit suspect to me.
