A member of the Rockefeller dynasty is talking about questionable business practices for profit motives?

Glad I wasn't the only one who sat up and went "Bzuh?"

Not just any Rockefeller, but West Virginia's Senator-for-Life. And it's a general feeling, so he doesn't even have to defend his view.

Let' see how many facebook Senator Jackass Rockefeller has now :)

Funny, I was just thinking about how often I encountered children who had more social values than, say, senators.

That's not fair, those kids have not yet been corrupted by the Political process.

I was thinking more along the line of how many senators actually stick to their own social values...?

I think ethics and values and empathy is tricky for many young adults. It was for me, mainly because these things weren't discussed with me at all, at home or school. Point being, I'm interested in this topic and I STILL don't see the connection between that and FB and people in their early 20s. IMO, people who run large companies and man ywho vote Republican have the same problem so...

No offense, but how many people have ever tried to get a hold of something they weren't supposed to and succeeded? I mean anything, a login for a popular website, an R-rated movie ticket, alcohol, porn. That number is going to be pretty high. Shit happens. Get over it. I'm sure they're aware about that problem, and are trying to handle it in their own way. Isn't a parent supposed to (help) watch a child's internet usage anyway? Or, you know, some children are much more mature for their age... I'm not justifying their usage of something, but sometimes they know their consequences already, and you don't need to hold their hand any longer.

Also, that quote... probably out of context in some ways, it's still fucking insulting to me. DIAF on principle.

(Blame the rage on the pneumonia that doesn't want to seem to go away...)

I did. I got on the Internet when I was about 12, so I lied about my age before I turned 13 to get onto COPPA-protected sites. And then when I was 14 to 17, I sometimes lied about being 18 to see 18+ websites. I think most kids do stuff like that - if you know basic math it's pretty easy to just put that you were born in 1998 instead of 1999.
