Climate Progress has had several good articles covering the situation with fires, drought, and moronic lawmakers in Texas. Texas is looking at probable permanent dust-bowlification within the next 50 years, of which this is likely just an opening salvo, but global warming isn't happening ( ... )

Um, the Salton Sea has been created and dried up repeatedly for hundreds of thousands of years; it's supposed to, it's what it does. Keeping it around unnaturally is presumptuous and considering that "saving" it would drastically change the ecological systems for miles and miles around and require massive and hugely expensive engineering works that would never fully be able to address the fact that it is on a very active fault line, not the brightest idea around.

He is an ass full stop.

Barron also works for a volunteer fire department in South Austin that sent a truck to West Texas to battle the Rock House fire that burned more than 200,000 acres last month. He said the truck needed repairs after the trip, which wasn't unusual.

Maybe Texas should ask for some money from those oil companies that are doing such a brisk business there!

And if there is that much in the Governor's discretionary fund, why doesn't he release a big chunk of it?
