W/e. I know that the North Pole belongs to Canada because every Christmas letters to Santa get sent to: Santa Claus, North Pole, Canada, H0H 0H0.

Eh, considering what resources are rumoured to be deposited in terms of oil and/or gas under the North Pole, it's going to be a lot less symbolic in due course.

OP: no "russia" tag? Strikes me Medvedev is going to be disappointed that nobody's paid any attention to his flag.

This Artic oil bollocks is disgusting because no-one should be drilling there. An environmental disaster is one of the richest areas of marine life should be avoided like the plague, but because the idea that not much could live there (because it's so cold) is held by so much of the general public they might get away with it. That commonly held belief couldn't be more wrong; it's an incredibly diverse and thriving area because of the nutrient rich waters and many species of whales spend a lot of their time there but if people don't know that or don't care because oil matters more than everything else we're in trouble.

Greedy oil fucks ruin everything they touch.
