And in other news this morning, my jackass of a governor, who didn't get his way in abolishing the Kansas Arts Commission, just put the entire (5 person) staff on administrative leave, and told them they'd be fired as of June 10.
*steams*

5 people trying to encourage creativity are a threat to the economy of Kansas.

...

Nope, still not seeing it.

Yep-he's just pissy because the State Senate voted against his pet project.
And I'm guessing he wants the Commission to go away because they do something besides religious arts, knowing him.

It's gonna be a long 4 years....

I looked up recalling him; it can be done, but it's more or less for:

* conviction for a felony,
* misconduct in office,
* incompetence, or
* failure to perform duties prescribed by law.

And yes, I consider this at least 3 out of the four, but I don't know if the general public would....

Hey, it's still worth gathering signatures! Even if you don't get enough to put it on the ballot/kick him out of office, it still calls attention to his Stupid Shit.

I got to this: "The last thing we wanted was for schools to upgrade their technology and lower student-to-teacher ratios in hopes of raising a generation of well-educated, ambitious, and skilled young Americans." before I realized that I should've checked the source. :(

well this is assuming the fictional money wouldn't go to fancier methods of testing and "race to the top" funds, teaching kids high tech ways to take national standards tests.

Which is, sadly, where it would go. Or more money to TFA and charter schools.

Don't forget administration. That sucks up loads of money that could be used to fund actual education.
