"forcible rape" wth

even the fact that forcible is needed to be put in front of rape says that "forcible" rape is only one type of rape (though I find any rape forcible, regardless of the state/age or anything of the victim).

what the hell?

I absolutely HATE the term. WHAT WHAT WHAT so if the woman for argument's sake doesn't fight back, it's, uh, what kind of rape? CONSENSUAL rape? WHAT?

I know that for me, the definition of rape has tended to involve the unwanted insertion of a penis into any orifice, but... I do not like the implication that other kinds of assault, penetrative or otherwise, are just a bunch of pretty flowers!

Hate it too.

I know many women who didn't fight back for various reasons, and that did NOT make it any less of a rape. Rape is rape!

Oh, OK, she was "only" sexually assaulted by a whole lot of blokes for an extended period of time. That makes it TOTALLY OK.

GAH.

Don't forget, it was her fault for being pretty and Western in a land of animalistic Muslims! GAAAAAAAH!

All I can say is, it's disgusting they're clinging to a narrow definition just to dismiss every case that doesn't strictly fit it. Talk about a deliberate, exploitable bias.

Right?? I mean I can imagine that whoever wrote the "definition" just wasn't thinking, but everyone reading it should use some common damn sense

Right? And why?

They should see the situation, recognize it as fucked up, and fix it. Why is that so hard?!

This is so fucking stupid. It sucks for all the women who are raped in other ways than by physical force who have to be told that they weren't raped. And then the police and general public wonder why more when don't come forward when shit like this happens.
