Someone I work with actually asked aloud about this: "What is with Muslims?" and shit got amazingly stupid after that. He literally did not understand why burning a Qur'an could possibly be not only stupid but immensely offensive. The fact that people like this in the world exist disgusts me.

Also yeah, I didn't know about the pastor actually going through with this until I found out about the killings on Friday. Sick to my stomach at all of it.

I imagine if someone asked him about burning a Bible he'd justify it by saying it was different.

Yeah, I'm Christian, but if someone wants to buy out Amazon's supply of bibles and have a bonfire with them, I'm not going to go kill some completely unrelated person for it. I'm not even going to be particularly mad at the burner, I mean if they want to waste their money like that it's no skin off my nose. It's just a book and there are other copies I can read.

This pastor is disgusting. He is not a man of God, he is in it for attention and fame and to frighten his constituents. (so he can get more attention and more fame)

Contrary to popular belief, religious people do do terrible things for religious reasons. You don't have to have some kind of ~ulterior secular motive to be an asshole in the name of God.

After just recently overhearing my roommate listening to old Bill Maher episodes where he said "Nothing would happen if the Qur'an was burned anyway~~~lolz~~", it makes me want to roll up on Bill and kick him in the face.

I think it is more than the Quran being burnt. I don't think you can put a direct causative link between these two events, there are so many other factors

Small point from someone here in Afghanistan: The Quran burning has been on the news, on all stations, including CNN and the BBC for several days now. People here can watch any news broadcast, from any country, and hear about it.

Iranian TV stations have been covering the attack on the UN compound as well.

Prior to the attacks or after the attacks?

idk about Europe, but here the burning itself got major coverage after the UN attacks.

Also the Iranian state media coverage seems to be pretty... uh biased...

New Afghan rallies rap Qur'an burning --> one sentence dedicated to the UN workers

Same in the Persian site, focused on Jones and anti-Islamic sentiment in the US, one sentence dedicated to the injured etc., 0 headlines.
