Wonder how this is going to affect research funding. I was actually going to look at UC Irvine for graduate school, hrm.

I wouldn't expect it would since that's a money-maker for unis, I think.

btw, in the comments at the source, someone suggests just getting rid of the CSUs because "The people who can't get into the bottom UCs don't benefit from a college education. We need to cut access to higher education". smh.

My ex probably wrote that.

Looking at the stats on students who attend CSUs as opposed to UCs is striking. The CSUs are filled with people who need to work f/t while going to school, who have kids, etc.

But it's dangerous to educate THOSE people anyway.

*waves sadly to the English department*

Phys. Ed and the Theatre/Arts/Music departments have already taken big cuts at my school. English is next.

Higher education has lost its shine so it's easier to cut than any other form of education; education itself probably has lost a lot of its shine.

Fuck that commenter, I could have gone to UC Irvine but chose Cal Poly Pomona instead because of all the agricultural stuff CPP has (as well as the quarter system, although we might be converting...). If I'd gone to UCI I doubt I would have had a chance to pregnancy check a cow.

And fuck this whole thing, universities don't need any more cuts.

Pretty sure we're not converting xD, but I think the final decision is up to President Ortiz?

I always drive past the cows in the back parking lot...-random-

I hope not! Last I heard it was up to a student senate vote but I have no idea who the final authority is haha.
