They can be inspirational too. People have intervened to stand up for others. The nursing in public one was comforting to me - as soon as the owner said "It's illegal" someone could be counted on to say, "Actually, it's legally protected, so leave her alone." The DV one showed that people intervene regardless of race, although the couple of color when the woman was wearing a "revealing" dress was depressing. Thing is, I wish they'd accounted for the ABUSER'S making a big goddam show of how "revealing" the abusee's dress was. In both cases, the guy had made a fuss about how the girl was dressed. If he hadn't done that, would people have reacted differently? The other thing was that with the white couple, the girl didn't already look frightened the way she did in the first experiment where she was dressed "conservatively".

Agreed. I will never watch these, they would make me so overwhelmingly angry. I don't need to be reminded that there are assholes who are racist/homophobic/sexist/whatever, but thanks.

I love these videos. So many people say they *would* do this, but watching the "What would you do?" specials speak otherwise.

THIS! And this is why I love the show. It shows those that would and would not say something. I'm the ass that would say something and get into a huge argument. I'm EVIL to nasty people during the holidays who treat retail people like shit because they didn't realize that 10000 million people had the same fucking idea as they did to go out shopping at the same time.

I have never run into situations like these but if I did, I would LOVE to think that I would stand up.

Aaaaaaaaaand I'm tearing up. Yes, I know how problematic these can be. But still.

It's ok, some of them make me cry too because of how people stand up to for people. Makes me realize how cynical I can be.

Bracing myself for people who'll watch the interracial family videos and use that as the grounds to claim that OMG REVERSE RACISM EXISTS.

I believe it exists. Sue me :)

I don't want to hear it. POC supposedly hating on you just for being white will never be on par with the damage white people have done to POC the world over. Ever. And "can't jump" will never be on par with "will rape our pure women (their women, of course, are inherently un-rape-able)".

Never said that

I'm honestly surprised at the last two. I expected racist assholes to be calling the police on the black father, so the response to the white father was surprising.

I was surprised too. Especially after this video. sunoftheskye March 6 2011, 21:45:58 UTC

Even worse is all the comments from white people being like "WELL IT'S BECAUSE THE BLACK GUY WAS WEARING BAGGY CLOTHES AND A BACKWARDS CAP!!!"
