Obama admin will no longer defend federal marriage act in court

while a part of me is happy about this, i JUST KNOW that this is the calm before the shitstorm that will be a total and complete upheaval in the social landscape and a revival of the culture wars.

*this* is the calm? Have you been watching the same bunch of legislators I have? This just means that they might have to decide whether it's more important to push their uterus-regulation laws or their homos-are-icky laws while dancing around the riots caused by their attempts to do away with unions.

Culture war shitstorm? We're sitting in the middle of it.

Frankly this is what gets me about it: Obama stopped defending really dumb law or that he actually was defending a really dumb law.

...Well, while I would vastly prefer Obama just throwing down and telling the Republicans to fuck off on all the major social issues, I'm sure this method (though much less satisfying) will probably get more done.
