One: this is an incredibly diverse movement, with people of all ages, political beliefs and grades of religiosity. Two: so far, there's been very little in the way of anti-secularist discourse (what we've been getting is mostly anti-American discourse that's plenty justified, especially when you're holding in your hands weapons with 'Made in the USA' printed on them

Cool story bro time. I work at one of my country's top news TV stations. Last night, we had a live debate show in regards to what's been happening in Egypt. Some of the people that got invited were completely clueless (a lady was comparing the recent events with the French Revolution), some were using the whole affair to get in cheap shots at our government's social policies and a few were relatively on-point.
....And then we got some gentleman who's supposed to be a respected academic of some sort. He sneered when another one of the individuals in the studio spoke about the democratic process that could hopefully begin and said that there could never be any sort of democracy in the Arab world because they apparently don't have the social culture for it.
I was this close to throwing my keyboard at the back of his head. But that would have gotten my arse fired in three seconds flat, so I just sat there and

Yes, I used to have a home care client who would watch it every day. It alternated between conservative news segments and human interest stories that occasionally had sexist/ableist/racist fail.
