yeah i really hope this is the end of posts concerning this issue, unless there's a giant new development, and i don't mean in his personal career choices post-MSNBC.

It seems to me that the discussion around his departure is less about him personally and more about corporate influence over the media. For instance, what is striking to me is that the new ownership believes it stands to gain more by altering political tone (assuming Keith contributed to a more liberal tone/less conservative) than by maintaining the top rating show on the network.

I still can't believe there aren't gonna be any more Prop 8-like Special Comments. That was a special night.

Oh my god, I know. There were so many fabulous SCs - "SHUT THE HELL UP", the hour-long health care comment, the one about Park51 - but the Prop 8 SC was just perfect and divine. I hope he starts a YouTube channel and posts future ones up there, because I know that we'll desperately need them.

I need to watch all of the one's I can find on YouTube. I wasn't a regular viewer of Countdown (due you know, not having MSNBC on my British TV and not having enough time to watch each ep on MSNBC's website), but damn the Prop 8 SC was something special.

There's a list of and links to all of Keith's special comments on Wikipedia. :)

He's a total asshole and I won't miss him specifically, but his firing is indicative of MSNBC getting yanked further to the right. It was a center-left corporate network last week, and next week it's going to be center-right.
