This. Was. Amazing.

My father should read this, but sadly he's too stuck in his demonize-liberals, utterly-forgive-conservatives-because-it's-never-our-fault mold.

My mom's kind of like that, too. She always says she wants us to engage in unbiased conversation about current events but whenever I say something and there's a Republican in the spotlight, she victimizes herself and claims that if it were a Democrat I wouldn't be saying the same thing.

...Despite the fact that I consider myself independent, and she knows this. What.

My debate coach claims the same thing--that I wouldn't be claiming the same thing if it was a liberal or a Democrat (or both, not that many in both categories exist anymore). She's libertarian, and it gets to be REALLY annoying--like the point I'm making is invalid if I wouldn't say it of the same behavior exhibited by someone of my political affiliation.

...except that most liberals/Dems wouldn't engage in that behavior. Whatever.

'but but but Michellle Malkin and Debbie Schlussel tell me to think'

thank you. This helped

I'm sick of this IT'S NOT SARAH PALIN talk. It may well not be ALL her fault but she and her fiery rhetoric certainly didnt help matters much

Great article. It makes a lot of great points.

"Chelsea is a Clinton. She bears the taint; and though not prosecutable in law, in custom and nature the taint cannot be ignored. All the great despotisms of the past - I'm not arguing for despotism as a principle, but they sure knew how to deal with potential trouble - recognized that the families of objectionable citizens were a continuing threat. In Stalin's penal code it was a crime to be the wife or child of an 'enemy of the people.' The Nazis used the same principle, which they called Sippenhaft, 'clan liability.' In Imperial China, enemies of the state were punished 'to the ninth degree': that is, everyone in the offender's own generation would be killed and everyone related via four generations up, to the great-great-grandparents, and four generations down, to the great-great-grandchildren, would also be killed."

- John Derbyshire, National Review, 02-15-01

I have to say that this one particularly disturbs me.

Same. It was like reading someone wishing eugenics was still around.
