Czech gay asylum 'phallometric test' criticised by EU

Dec 11, 2010 14:21

The EU's leading human rights agency has sharply criticised the Czech authorities for using a controversial method of testing whether homosexual asylum seekers are genuinely gay. The Fundamental Rights Agency said the Czech Republic was the only EU country still using a "sexual arousal" test. Gay asylum seekers are hooked up to a machine that ( Read more... )

So I guess there is no such thing as polysexual individuals, as usual.

And if there are, there's nothing oppressive about demanding they spend their lives acting perfectly and exclusively heterosexual in order to not be persecuted, harassed, tortured and killed. Because they can be attracted that way, never mind little details like who you fall in love with.

According to the Kinsey scale, aren't most people? Or is that terribly old-fashioned.

The fact that there are gay men turned on by het porn completely passed them by?

I really have to wonder why anyone is okay with asylum seekers being treated badly. It must suck to have zero compassion.

They could probably prove a lot of women are actually gay men.

Gay asylum seekers are hooked up to a machine that monitors blood-flow to the penis and are then shown straight porn. Those applicants who become aroused are denied asylum.

There are so many things wrong with these two sentences that I don't even know where to begin.

What the hell?

That . . . doesn't even . . . what the fuck?

1) Straight porn generally features a naked man---you know, the gender that gay men are attracted to, naked and aroused.

2) Bisexuals would pretty much automatically fail that test, but could still face persecution if the person they fall in love with and want a relationship with is their same gender.

3) Persecution can be based on actual or perceived sexual orientation. I highly doubt that a person denied asylum can call off all their attackers by just saying "I applied for asylum but this Czech government agency says I'm not gay enough."

Wow, this makes me incredibly angry. It goes against basic human dignity. I always feel so bad for asylum seekers for what they must have gone through to get to another country and how they are treated there (Healthcare being unavailable and people living in buildings that were only designed for half the number are just examples from cases I personally know about here in Germany). We should treat these people with warmth and welcome and nothing less.
Even if they fled for economic reasons the situation for them must have been pretty dire for them to leave their home behind and THE DECISION ON WETHER THEY TELL THE TRUTH OR NOT SHOULD NEVER EVER BE DECIDED ON WETHER THEY ARE AROUSED BY STRAIGHT PORN OR NOT. WTF?????
But, you go German court. Sort of proud here.
