Advocate for birth control pills, condoms, knowing your cycle, whatever, but it's incredibly stupid to keep pushing abstinence when you know it doesn't work.

It does work, but few people have the self-discipline to carry it out, so it's not a realistic approach. I prefer the old cheer:

Sex can wait. Mas-tur-bate! That is the safest sex one can have, unless they accidentally grab crazy glue :)

But sometimes abstinence is not a matter of personal choice. I know it seems counter-intuitive, but realistically speaking, it's not just about having "the self-discipline to wait".

I think Keith attacked this from the wrong angle. What he should have argued is that it's hypocritical for her to be an abstinence spokeswoman when SHE HERSELF said that abstinence is unrealistic. Of course, she changed her tune once the corporate $ponsorships started knocking on her door. It proves (to me, at least) that she's only in it for the money. If she really wants to work to prevent teen pregnancy, then she'd be better off working for a foundation that promotes safe sex (and reality).

On another note, we now know that the Palin publicists have taken over their facebooks.

The original statement was jokey and is labeled "(NOT REALLY) Worst Persons". He spent more time gagging at The Situation, really.

But I agree, there were better ways to point out her hypocrisy and idiocy.

As long as we're talking about defending things, let's hear you defend your remarks.

I'm not even going to ask you to actually provide evidence that Rachel Maddow defended Fidel Castro over something he'd done that was actually wrong, because I know you won't, and probably can't. Not least because you're the sort of person who feels like you "caught" someone on national television doing something. Unless you walked into Rachel Maddow's living room when she didn't expect you and heard her saying something off the air?
