Police officer accused of G20 attack faces misconduct charge

A police officer who was not prosecuted over the death of newspaper seller Ian Tomlinson during the G20 protests in London is accused of gross misconduct.

Meanwhile, the same tactics used at G20 are still deployed at protests today, under the command of the same officer (Broadhurst) in charge back then. Batons all round!

On the upside, though, they've just been made to pay out a hefty amount for the wrongful arrest of those at the convergence centre at G20 -- http://www.bindmans.com/index.php?id=713 -- with a number of claimants finding out in just the past few days. Excellent!

ANd then the police complain that we don't respect them any more.

Respect is easily lost - and the police have put an aeful lot of effort into ridding themselves of as much respect as possible

And this is not accountable. Not even remotely.
