But don't they like teach you how to cut different types of hair in barber/cosmetology school? This makes no sense.

Learning how to do black hair is an extra class or two

It may not be that way in every school but I had a couple of friends who were getting licensed and this was an extra class that was not included in the regular program.

This guy sounds like a racist tool. I've had white people excited for the opportunity to cut my hair. I let a white girl do it once and she made a bald spot on my head. I wanted a #1 fade and she made a fucking bald spot. How is that possible? Now I ask ahead of time if they have anyone who can cut black hair and I do not let white people do it cause seriously? Bald spots are not sexy. On the other hand I have been turned away from female stylists and told to go to barber shops. That was kinda hurtful :/

Oh that's just awful! She should have known her limitations, her pride isn't as important as not ruining a customer's hair :/

Apparently Holly Robinson, the black actress in 21 Jump Street had such... asymmetrical... hair because the (white) Canadian hairdresser for the show had never done anything with black hair before. But was sure it would be no problem.

i had no choice but to drop into a random salon for a wash/set while i was in a strange town (in mississippi). the woman (white) washed my hair and stood back, looked at me with all seriousness and said...

'do ya'll people use conditioner in your hair?'

i paid her and left the shop with wet hair. to hell with that. i've had my hair done by people of all shades, if you went to a good cosmo school then you do not need to ask stupid ass questions like that.

i dunno. she seemed thoroughly confused. she actually stood there for a second with the bottle in her hand, with this crazy "uhoh now what?" look on her face. she had to have honestly thought that black hair doesn't take conditioner. i don't...i just...ugh.

This is so close to where I live I can't believe it's on here.

That said, go BF. This sounds like a tiny nugget of truth in a pile of bullshit situation to me.
