Parisian flat containing €2.1 million painting lay untouched for 70 years

Oct 11, 2010 15:37

For 70 years the Parisian apartment had been left uninhabited, under lock and key, the rent faithfully paid but no hint of what was inside.

So what WAS behind the door? )

It's a small item worthy only of a slow news day

...How did it remain like this, untouched, for so long? It's so...cool. And sad. And cool.

*wants those books* *grabby paws*

I could almost believe something like this because my in-laws...their house is somewhat the same; they barely live in it, preferring to live in Dorset while leaving this house to effectively rot. (making me very sad since this house is at least 200 years old and sadly in need of major work which they're only now starting to do after 25 years...) I have a feeling that once we've moved into our new house this coming weekend, it'll go back to being sadly neglected and unloved. :(

But man, I wish I could see those treasures...I love old things. <3

I thought the exact same thing about the books.

I knew I couldn't be the only one. Old books are my passion (and weakness) and I would spend all I have for a chance to just see them... *drools*
