How Democrats, Republicans compare

Sep 15, 2010 00:39

For years I have been trying to persuade supporters of the other major American party to change their mind and vote with me, to no avail. That is, until last week, when three politically minded friends came over for an evening of snacks and politics, and, halfway through the evening, I unleashed my new one-two approach to political persuasion ( Read more... )

Omg, you call that a reputable site. Give my 3 year old 5 minutes with a computer and she might do as well. That site, while humerous is nothing I would base life decisions on.

interesting. if you add this along with actual term changes for each democrat/republican administration in each state to show what happens in swing states, it should show even more of a dynamic i think. this would make for an interesting term paper by the way.

There should be some disclaimer though, that the democratic party is not the successor to the dixiecrats. So I would be cautious about 1960. I was reading a guys argument about how republicans freed the slaves and the democrats blah blah blah and the guy had no concept that as soon as northern democrats tried to pass civil rights legislation, the southern democrats, the ones at issue here, all ran republican. i wish people could see that the dem/repub thing turned out like the theory that the earth's magnetic poles flip their axises.

Wait, which theory is that? Cuz I'm in geology right now and we just learned that they didn't flip, they just kinda move around b/c of ~mantle convection.

Also as a Southerner I hear that shit a lot.
And then I'm like lol no hush

What a great way to rid an area of hundreds of years of racial inequality and possibly a little guilt. Haha. Its like the rapture came and took all those voters away.

I was told that the polarity itself switches every so often, which has no meaning really as long as we still have a magnetic field. Funny, we the chances of us having a planet like this that works so damn well for us and for everything we can point out that's one in a trillion chances of happening in our favor, humanity's response is "FOR ME TO POOP ON." haha.

It's the old red state- blue state dichotomy. Blue states' citizens generally show better levels of education, higher income, higher rates of 'family values' or domestic stability and the economies contribute more in federal taxes, while they consistently get less federal money and fewer 'pork projects'. However, the red states constantly preach about being superior in all the ways they provably are not while consistently taking more than they give economically.

Nothing new.
