This statement is really problematic considering that Paul has openly positioned himself as a Libertarian/Tea Party candidate. His views are purposely against the traditional GOP planks. You have to remember that people like Paul are using the Republican label because they can't get elected as independent/third party candidates.

Umm, actually you can, Michael Steele. It isn't even that hard to do. "I condemn Rand Paul's statement and view of a portion of the Civil Rights Act. I, however, will take his word when he says he is not interested in repealing the Act. I hope he will not let these views hinder his ability to help Kentuckians in all walks of life." See how easy that was?
