I have a feeling a confrontation with a nude Rahm Emanuel wearing an alien mask was involved.

Thank the heavens some of the liberal Democrats are finally seeing some sense. I'm tired of obstructionist politics for the sake of principles. I realize ideals are what politicians should strive for, but if that doesn't translate to legislative reality then there is no point. I voted for Obama so things would get passed, not so principles can kill every bill ever introduced.

i agree, but when the party can be so easily persuaded to ditch their principles to pass anything you have to questions what is more important. one of the reasons kucinich is a favorite of mine is because he stands for what he believes in no matter what, and that's a quality i wish more democrats had.

See, I see that as the difference between having principles and having integrity--the honesty to carry out your word to serve your constituents and stated principles to the best of your ability. That also means compromising when it's a meaningful step in the right direction of your principles, not just doing it for some porky kickbacks to your state. Too few politicians have integrity these days, but there's no short of "principles." Principles without integrity is useless.

eh, one of the reasons i love him so much is because he is so willing to stick to his principles and stand behind his decisions... but i guess in this case, i'm glad he's changed his mind. i understood completely where he was coming from the first time around because i want the same kind of reform he wants, but killing this bill will not get us ANY closer to that.
