HCR would have remained popular if the Democrats hadn't axed the Public Option so early.

That's not what made it so unpopular, what made it unpopular is that Democrats failed to properly counter DEATH PANELS GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER SOCIALISM WARAJKL;GJ;LKDL;EA;KLAL

No, what's made it unpopular is that anyone fucking thick enough to believe that death panels crap is already beyond hope; those people shit their pants every time they hear the word "socialism", and most people who wanted reform hate the shitty watered-down crap that we're trying to get passed now. Health care reform is popular, and what the Democrats were originally trying to do was popular. What we have now is something that pleases no one.

Do I still hope it passes? Fuck yes. But if the question the poll is asking is "are you happy with the bill?" the answer from a lot of people, from progressives to moderates, is going to be no.

Have you looked at the polls on this? I've already had an argument with a Neo-Con about this-- and he lost. The Public Option was the teeth of the bill, and the Democrats gave it up almost immediately.

or you know, the Tea Party Convention is TOTALLY A HUGE GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT, PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER IN MASS NUMBERS* TO ORGANIZE POLITICALLY.

*in this case "mass numbers" means six hundred people.
