I don't think they're necessarily meaningless - they just lead the frontrunner into a false sense of security. I think that's what Kerry did. I could be wrong but I certainly didn't hear much FROM him in September/October - just the attacks against him.
Two things. Barack Obama is running for the President of the US, not the President of MoveOn.org, the President of any liberal group.
Well it's fucking true. Ford irks me a bit sometimes but I do feel that some liberals who think they fucking own Barack don't realize he does have other demographics to appeal to. The country may be going left but they sure as hell don't all identify as liberal. He's not just going to win on self proclaimed liberal votes only.
Purity trolls won't be happy unless they have a candidate who holds to every one of their positions. The problems are:
They can't agree on their positions
A president is elected by a majority, not a minority
Hell, I consider myself a progressive, but I don't agree with these folks on all of their issues. There's something to be said for moderation when you're governing an entire nation, not just one faction. Look what we've had where the GOP tries to govern based on only one faction's opinions for the past 7 years!
