Health-care bill wouldn't bring real reform

By Howard Dean
Thursday, December 17, 2009; A33

If I were a senator, I would not vote for the current health-care bill. Any measure that expands private insurers' monopoly over health care and transfers millions of taxpayer dollars to private corporations is not real health-care reform. Real reform ( Read more... )

Does your head hurt from being inflated so much?

The bill has been whittled down to nothing but that doesn't mean reform is impossible. If they get rid of the mandate, they can work from there.

Nice to see you too! -highfives-

You've gotta admit, I called this (inevitable) result months ago.

And I dont think this is a step forward. Its just a bailout to insurance industries and totally ignores the actual HEALTH concern. Its going to reduce the quality of care for those in need, increase costs, and not address corruption in the industry.

I read a neat article about how, in china, you pay your doctor when you are healthy, and its his job to keep you that way. If you are sick, the doctor doesnt get paid. It was a fascinating examination of some of the options that are legally denied to us.

Are they not allowed to refuse patients who are rather ill/prone to sickness?

I dont know.

When I said "reducing care" i meant it will force people into an option that may not be what they wish, but its all they can afford. It doesnt give them an opportunity to shop around for a system that works properly for them, but instead forces them into a deal.

Theres also the whole.. what if Cheney/Palin win in 2012, and they assign someone in charge of National Health Care. (thats the -real- reason im against gvt health care. GAH, that spooks the shit out of me)
