The thing it comes back to again and again for me is the fact that Supreme Court decided that separate but equal is not constitutional. Civil unions for some people and marriage for some is bullshit. End of story.

Totally this. People seem to forget that the second same-sex marriage comes up. We should start throwing papers that say Plessy v Ferguson at people's heads the minute they bring up the "civil union" or "marriage" argument.
