So ... it's NOT his fault, is that what he's saying? Because that's what it sounds like to me. In which case, I want to know who FORCED him to commute the kid's sentence.

Also, seventeen is old enough to know what the hell you're doing, and if you're sentenced for a HOST of charges, "the poor boy was ONLY seventeen" is not a good enough reason for commutation of prison time, IMO. It's not like he was this poor innocent kid.

Seriously, this is some bizarre side-stepping he's doing. I can't figure out what he's trying to do!

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Is he admitting to being partly at fault for this or is he just saying the system failed and the parole board failed and and and...?

Both. This is meant to be a non-statement: those who want to hear him taking responsibility will hear him taking responsibility, those who want him to externalize the blame will hear him externalizing the blame, and neither side can point to the statement as evidence of either, effectively disavowing himself of responsibility without blaming anyone else.

It only works if you don't look at it too closely.

Okay, so.

Making this sort of comment in this community is like standing in front of your mirror and saying BLOODY MARY BLOODY MARY BLOODY MARY.

Odds are that nothing will happen. But tonight's a full moon, and you never know what's lurking on the other side of the internet...

sure I was the govenator and I had full power granted to me to let him rot but I didn't...even though I knew he already violated probation and was a danger to society. I could have sent him to get help in a mental care facility to help him sort out his issues, but I didn't. so he committed several felonies, fled the state, commited an alleged child rape and murder four cops in cold blood. Still not my fault. It's the SYSTEM's fault...ignore the fact that I was part of and head of the system at the time in which it was possible to turn this young man's life around from that of a career criminal.
