Just thinking out loud here. This House race has me totally baffled. Scozzafava is actually to the left of both the Democrat AND the Conservative party candidate. It struck me as odd that the Dems have thrown their weight behind Owens (who is both pro-life and anti-gay marriage and who knows how he votes on fiscal matters), when Scozzafava, despite being a Republican, seems more likely to vote with the Dems than their own Dem candidate. This is how we end up with the Joe Liebermans of the world. If "bipartisanship" is really what matters and passing a truly progressive agenda, then having someone like Scozzafava in Congress is more helpful to the Dems than a Dem-in-name-only like Owens. I mean Clinton and Obama have gone to bat for this dude (i get daily fricking emails soliciting donations) and it seems like it's only to brag that they were able to turn blue a district that has been Repub since the civil war. Policy-wise, Owens winning might actually be a loss. (though had Scozzafava won, i wonder if the GOP would put some ( ... )
