I'm going to exercise a sliver of faith in the majority of Americans and think that not THAT many people are stupid enough to vote for Sarah "Hurr Durr" Palin.

Eighty-one percent (81%) of the GOP faithful say that it’s at least somewhat likely the Republican nominee will defeat President Obama in 2012. Fifty percent (50%) say it’s Very Likely.

... Make that a very, very, very, very, very, VERY small, teeny tiny itsy bitsy sliver of faith in humanity.

i hate to say this but mittens will never be the frontrunner if he's mormon. this isn't my own personal bias, but conservative christians won't stand for it, i bet you anything.

and before anyone says WELL KENNEDY WAS CATHOLIC BLAH BLAH, yes, he was catholic, and that is considered christian as they believe in the trinity. to my knowledge, mormons do not.

Kennedy was a Catholic Democrat anyway. The Democratic party has traditionally been more immigrant-y and the Republicans more WASP-y. (Which is why when you have non-traditional religious backgrounds for Democratic presidents you get Kennedy the Catholic and for Republicans you get Nixon the Quaker.)

Head-to-Head: Huckabee 44%, Romney 39%

It says something about the GOP that I can recall off the top of my head the religious affiliations of both of these candidates.
