We should have known this would happen. Obama's election was the most inspiring thing I've ever witnessed in my life. Before 2008, I never would have thought that a black man could come from nothing and become president in this country. And he's not just a black man, but an intelligent, educated, respectable, moderate-liberal black man, with a beautiful little family and not a hint of corruption or sleaze in his background.

He's so good, the right-wingers have to go overboard on the crazy. I don't know how we didn't see this coming. They have to take ANY and EVERY tiny little shred they can get and blow them all WAAAY out of proportion just to have anything at all to say against Obama. They CAN NOT let themselves or their children be inspired by Obama, and it takes A LOT to shit all over such an inspiring story.

They are very frightened people. And frightened people can be dangerous when their fear becomes this visceral. The far Right is disappointed in the last eight years: a President who let them down by not bringing all the villains of 9/11 to justice and - in the last days of holding the office - released a torrent of money into the hands of those guilty for the economic disaster. They desperately want to trust someone, and the only ones available are those who echo and amplify their fear and anger - the Limbaughs and Becks. It doesn't have to be realistic, just loud and angry.

The same nutjobs that committed the Oklahoma City bombing in the 1990s and started up the militia/Minuteman movement, and who were buying all the ammo of store shelves after Obama was elected.

I wouldn't put anything past them.

These assholes wouldn't know what real oppression looked like anyway.

I think that's what enrages me the most, and I've lived in the States my entire life.

These idiots are ranting and raving about communism and socialism and government oppression of their rights while living in a country where you can openly rant and rave against the government without fear of getting shot or disappearing suddenly. They get their "information" from an opposition media that would be ruthlessly suppressed in other countries for not following the official party line. They have free and unfettered access to the internet without state control of what they can and cannot see.

It's so damned irritating. I want to smack each and every one of these morans upside the head with a clue-by-four so they'll get it through their thick skulls that they've got it pretty damned good here and they need to get some perspective. =P

This! My boyfriend's family is German and when i was talking with his grandad about this the other day he got so mad he was actually shaking with rage that people dare compare it. He said if anything, the racist protestors claming Obama = Hitler are the nazi's in all of this and these people need to step outside their ignorant boxes and learn some real European history.
