Christ, me too. I will never be surprised by the news of human rights abuses coming out of Russia - hell, most of our family didn't make it out of the country alive, as it is. This hits so close to home. I hope to work for a human rights organization after I get my degree... and since I speak Russian, there's a high likelihood that I would work directly with protecting freedom of the press (such as it is) back there.

Even though I don't want to be stationed there, for wtf safety reasons, it makes me wonder. And part of me says, I could be this woman. D:
