The guy 5 to the left of Kim Jong-il doesn't have the same stance in both pictures. So unless they cut Jong-il out of the first photo and put him in the second (which could work, as he's standing exactly the same way, except he looks a little "fuller" in the newer photo)...

Okay, it's too early for me to analyze this.

But there are fishy things going on. If you look at the people standing in the utmost left, they are identical in the upper rows on both photos. That one guy's shoulder is aligned exactly next to the door or whatever it is that is greyer.

You're perfectly right that the guy with the wide stance is only in the upper image. But if you look at the foot positions of the guys to his right and left, I am reasonably sure that they all appear in the lower picture, too. Apparently, for whatever reason, they removed the wide-stanced guy and the five guys on the left. On the bottom right side, there was apparently some shifting, too, but several guys still have similar legs.

To me, it looks like the same photo, with removal of a few people who probably have fallen out of grace or something.

Good points. Like I said, too early for me/not enough coffee or sleep. I'll look at it again later :)

Seeing as it's afternoon here, and I'm procrastinating, and it has been far too long since I played with the GIMP, I fiddled a bit, although the TV seems to have done funny things to the aspect ratio:

Both pictures look more like photos of dolls lined up in a shop window display. Or puppets - maybe Trey Parker and Matt Stone are doing a Team America sequel!

Hrmmm. The second photo's so blurry it's practically impossible to tell for sure. The front row seems more spaced out in the econd one, though, especially to the left of Kim. And Kim does look a bit, ahem, more filled-in in the first pic.

The filled-in-ness is from the TV, I think. See above.

there's an entire additional person in the front row, right side, in the middle.

Any picture of a leader standing in front of soldiers is gonna look the same.

I don't know... have you seen these guys at the Olympics? They're good at reenacting exact poses.
