Dana Perino: elect more women, they are sexless cretures to have an affair!!

Elect more women, but not because Dana Perino said so

I don’t normally pay much attention to what’s posted over at the National Review’s blog, The Corner. I mean, if I had to pick apart every lop-sided argument and pot-shot that Kathryn Lopez made, I wouldn’t have time to write posts on abortion rights or hang out with my gay married friends.

But ( Read more... )

Uh. Ah. So who are all these straight men who are having affairs having affairs *with* if it isn't women? Not that I object to electing more women, but the logic doesn't follow.

Obviously they're having affairs with other men, but it doesn't make them any less straight because Jesus said so.

Yeah, I've got nothing.

Well, most of these mistresses aren't political figures or CEOs, etc.

She does have a point that since women have to work harder to be respected in the professional world plus do the majority of the domestic work for their families, they really don't have time for affairs.

As long as we're making Sweeping Generalizations here, I think Ms. Perino's argument fails because 1.) women are capable of making the same mistakes as men, and 2.) once there are more women in positions of political power, the number of mistakes they make will also increase.

maybe she's really saying we're able to masturbate with greater satisfaction ;) which allows women in power greater self-control?

I know the statistics are against it... but maybe if you sort by economic demographic they're not? I'd be curious to know. If you find the study's data I'll do the stat analysis pro bono :)

and please don't construe this for defending cappucino perino - I just like research, particularly social psych.

I think it's much more likely that women aren't likely to get as cocky (pardon the term) as men because as a group women aren't as accustomed to power and don't take it for granted. So they either cheat less or are more careful.

Or even if we stopped making private sexual habits an issue in politics, as long as nothing illegal is going on.
