This is pretty normal, unfortunately. Really pisses me off. I'm more surprised to hear about protests where there is no police brutality and unwarranted arrests.

The coal companies are being a brutal and harsh bureaucracy? Doesn't surprise me. The situation in Matewan, in particular, comes to my mind.

If anything, I'm actually sort of surprised the current protests weren't quashed more violently. /cynical
