I'm really kind of two minds about this. On the one hand, he stared out strong in the article, and finished strong with the fantastic "they're not on the ballot" assertion.
But then some of the actual points he outlined seemed like rehashing of old ideas, like how in clumsy hands focusing on the middle class could lead to demonizing of the poor. Again. Also, the notion that the party "took it in the shorts" because of leadership and the war... Is that an acknowledgement that those were bad things, or the old GOP "I'm sorry that you feel sorry" half apology?
OBAMA’S ACHILLES HEEL - Boehner believes it’s national security. “This thing is real,” he said. Watch for more tough votes on Guantanamo, interrogation memos and photos - and a big push on the issue emerging today: the Obama Justice Department admission that some detainees have been read their Miranda rights. “I think most Americans will be appalled that we’re providing Miranda rights to terrorists,” Boehner predicted. “This thing is going to bubble up big.”
Bush started that policy, you idiot. He was also the first to recommend both closing Gitmo and some detainees being tried in US courts. I swear, they rely on misinformation for their points and pray that no one catches them.
Also, the disconnect between this and the current topic- the right wing terrorists- is amazing. Does he not have a clue? THAT is the GOP's anvil around the neck.

This quote got me curious so I put up a poll on my LJ for the 240 or so people who I'm friended with to see if anyone there agreed with Boehner and were appalled.
It's not even remotely scientific, but so far the poll is running 23 to 2 against what Boehner contends and I've got a pretty good number of Libertarians and Republicans on my Flist.

She's really knows what she's talking about, unlike some. I have to say, I agree with everything. We need some more of that kind of sense in Washington!"
