Filibuster-proof or not, I applaud the man for following his principles and what he felt was best for his constituents and the entire country.

Is it possible that he wants to give a big "fuck you" to the current republican party by leaving while knowing that in 2010 he won't have a chance in the democratic primaries and thus the republicans have to find a different candidate that might not be as strong as Specter was for them?
