“Oklahoma is a pro-life state, and its citizens are overwhelmingly opposed to research that would result in the death of an unborn child,” Benge said.

The IGNORANCE. Seriously, these people are filth.

Rep. Lisa Billy, R-Lindsay, said the bill would protect women, especially low-income minorities who might be pressured to sell their eggs for embryonic research

Poor women might make money or even worse...decisions about their own bodies which could incite other women to do the same leading to anarchy of biblical proportions.

"This is not about killing babies," said Cox, an emergency room doctor. "This is about cellular biology."

Sense, why are you making so much of it?

Can I ask any OK residents here--what's Brad Henry like? Is he a conservative Dem? It's always been a little funny to me that one of the reddest states in the nation has a Dem governor (then again, there's Wyoming, my home state of KS, etc...but still)

Yes, he's very conservative (and promised to issue a moratorium on the Death Penalty, then never did) who happens to be a little more socially leftish than his Republican opponent in 2003. Oklahoma Democrats for the most part are Republicans-in-Demo-Clothing who MAY be more socially leftist than actual Republicans. We've got a bunch of rural, yellow dog Democrats running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Since the parties in Oklahoma are so much alike ("pro-business", Democrats can manage to get elected on a state-wide basis, but national elections are a waste of time for Democrats (unless you're Dan Boren. Ugh. Boren ( ... )
