One, wow, this article is annoying. Like they were waiting for Jon & crew to misstep just so they could jump all over them, and writer ends up sounding as smug and condescending as they're trying to make Jon out to be.

Two, it may be petty, but what articles/transcripts? The article says they exist, but it also says that "the tension was palpable" when I honestly doubt he cares much. If he does feel the need to apologize, it'll probably be a flip, one-off statement in the first act of a show, then he'll get back to the business of making people laugh.

Yeah, I get the feeling the writer was jerking off at fantasy of calling Stewart on some shit.
I still am not clear on how this is a complete smackdown of Stewart's point. Is the one situation concerning voting on budget reconciliation completely inapplicable to voting on judicial nominees? Shit is not at all cleared up by this article.

MSM is mad because a Comedy Central is more interesting and credible than they are. Having said that, the man is a COMEDIAN, not a reporter. He doesn't have to apologize. It's not like it's his job to be correct and verify sources.

Man, these people are pathetic.

I dunno, I think it's everyone's job not to say blatant falsehoods when presenting something as fact.

Except the show is a parody of a news show, not an actual news show. It's not exactly dripping with 100% honesty. Which is why it should be watched for entertainment value and not taken seriously.

I don't want anyone - talk show host, comedian, newsperson, whatever - to say someone said something they didn't and present it as fact.

The problem here is, this story basically discredits the claims that Stewart is in the pocket of the Democrats - not only for the fact that he attacked a Democrat, but also that his attack was "proven wrong." After all, if you're trying to defame someone, then you're going to claim that their inaccuracies in reporting are a result of a bias, but if Jon Stewart is biased against a Democrat then O SHIT THE GOP'S ARGUMENTS JUST FELL APART.
