I sincerely hope this goes through. God knows we need an overhaul.

I bought Webbs book and it is very good, although a little raw-raw about the military which is understandable since he has deep roots in it.

Webb's book is awesome. I have loaned it out to so many people who don't understand why I'm a Democrat.

The US represents 5 percent of the world's population but accounts for nearly 25 percent of its prison population.

Legalizing or at least decriminalizing so many of the drug offenses on the books would deal with a lot of this. A lot of Americans don't believe we have more prisoners than Russia, China, or even Iraq under Saddam, relative to population. They think you are a shady communist if you point this out.

Also, economic inequality breeds antisocial behavior that is criminal. Address this fundamental aspect.

"I think they should do a very careful examination of all aspects of drug policy. I've done a couple of very extensive hearings on this, so we'll wait to see what they say about that," he said.

nd we are locking up too many people who do not belong in jail," concluded Webb. "I believe that American ingenuity can discover better ways to deal with the problems of drugs and nonviolent criminal behavior while still minimizing violent crime and large-scale gang activity.

Jesus Christ, yes. What is Lindsey Graham doing in there making sense? Does.not.compute. I don't trust him no matter what he appears to be doing.

Speaking of Reagan, among the "not soft on crime" stuff reminds me that he's the one that closed the mental hospital(s) in CA creating many more homeless. I think that's when he was Gov and not Pres. HOnestly I don't remember at the moment.

I'm so glad this commission has been created. Letting violent criminals out on parole way before their time because the prisons are full of pot smokers isn't a good idea.
