As much as I am for freedom of, erm, "religion, I do admit this German decision disappoints me. Many Europeans rightly hold the idea that Scientology is a multi-level marketing scheme. That is, you pay for sessions that measure Thetan levels, and can advance up as you get more recruits, or pour more money into the "church," advancing up the ranks, etc.

How the hell can the State Department criticize Germany for that after Operation Snow White? The extent to which the government will tolerate Scientology's illegal practices under Freedom of Religious is absurd.

Goddamn it.

I don't care that they believe in a space god named Xenu and that he burned a bunch of people whose spirits hold us back and they're called thetans or some shit. I don't care that Tom Cruise thinks he can fly and kill people with his eyes.

I do care that people go bankrupt for a freaking "religion." That members are isolated from their non-$cientologist family and friends. I hate that they fair game people. I hate that Clearwater, FL may as well have a volcano on its welcome sign because the police and other authorities are all either $cientologists or being blackmailed by them to do their bidding. I hate that the only Tom Cruise movie I can enjoy anymore is Cocktail b/c it was done before he converted. I hate that it's a crappy movie. :/

But most of all, I hate that people like Lisa McPherson are dead simply because they tried to get out of this godforsaken CULT.

Yeah, because no other religion ever causes harm to anyone else.

You know, there's plenty of evidence that Islam hurts lots of Muslim people. I wonder how it'd go over if they tried to ban that in Germany?

Scientology isn't a religion, it's a delusion. Gods, I'm all very open minded about faith, but the founder of Scientology wrote science-fiction, he created the religion from his really crappy dekology.

Yes possibly the Mormons are weird too, the story of Joseph Smith and the golden plates will forever amuse me, it's a religion only those brainwashed in it could believe in.
