Why wouldn't the Director of National Intelligence or the CIA I like "enhanced" interrogation & telephone surveillance? Life would become 1,000x easier if you could torture people & just listen to their phone calls.

"enhanced" is a pretty way of saying "watered down".
You can't half-ass your way to torture and spying.

... enhanced is the exact opposite of watered down

I'm not saying I agree with them, I'm just saying I understand why the Directors would like them.

"enhanced" is watered down version of their vision.
Gitmo isn't a concentration camp, but if they round up all the h8rs (Al Qaida, insurgents, people with an unfortunate last name), it's an undivided attention camp, which is a rose by another name.

Man, it's gonna be this way every day for two months, isn't it? Journalists pouncing on every little piece of gossip, prompting either a denial/confirmation/no-comment from the Obama camp. *face palm*

Actually this isn't completely gossip mon_lapin November 13 2008, 05:18:31 UTC
Obama did vote against confirming Hayden as director so it's not out of the question he would want to appoint someone else.
