As far as FDR making the Great Depression last longer, I'll go with the Nobel Prize economist above instead of you for the time being if you don't mind.
JFK created the Peace Corps, slept with Marilyn Monroe, started the Vietnam War ... and then got killed. So he's never quite measured up for me .... *cough*
