So... in layman's terms, what does a transition team do? I feel like I should know this, but whatever.

They are kind of like the on-the-job training team. They go in, get briefed on the on-going projects the current cabinet has underway, and then pass that knowledge on to the new cabinet, once Obama has filled all the positions. Basically, you can think of them as a sort of interim cabinet. Does that make sense?

I'm hoping they avoid giving the Secretary of Education position to Napolitano if she's offered a cabinet position. Arizona's education system is for shit.
