Her tortured, convoluted, wending and winding, prolix, definition of "elitism" is the highlight for me. Watching her try to answer questions is painful and I feel embarrassed for her.

And watching these two give their belabored, tortured answers to diret questions reminds me of this Orwell quote:

“The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink.” - George Orwell

That is perfect. It never occurred to me before on why people can get that way. When you're speaking your mind, the words you need instinctively pop right up, and are waiting at the ready. When you have to make it up, you really have to dig... which can be unfortunate when the person who asked for the response is there to watch the process.

Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) said the Arizona senator wasn't talking about "real New Yorkers."

"He's talking about Park Ave. and the upper West Side, which is inhabited by the liberal socialites and the media types who, yeah, are certainly elitists," King said.

not to mention As it happens, the U.S. zip code that's given the most to the McCain campaign - $909,128 - is Manhattan's 10021, which includes a swath of Park Ave. article

I'm gonna need more specific street addresses and possibly some google street view images so I can know how to avoid the elitists.

I don't think Palin enjoys touching McCain. Or looking at him.

Really, I doubt she wants to be in the same room with the man.

I daresay it's mutual. He's so stiff and strained around her. The forced smiles . . . uncomfortable!
