UN: Yemen facing massive famine if blockade not lifted

Millions of people will die in Yemen, in what will be the world's worst famine crisis in decades, unless a Saudi-led military coalition ends a devastating blockade and allows aid into the country, the United Nations has warned.

Trigger warnings: violence, famine... )

war, war crimes, human rights, yemen, hunger

Exactly.

...And when the U.N. even "downplays Saudi Arabia-led coalition’s crimes against children"(1), this really makes it much more difficult for things to change. (As evidenced by Saudi Arabia being able to essentially 'muscle' away any criticism using its clout.(2))

I missed your posts OP! This whole situation is a mess and it has been getting steadily worse for over a year now. I really don't understand why the west is so deep in bed with Saudi, especially given the other rumblings happening over the past week or two that point to even more warmongering in the region. Sigh :(

Thanks so much!! I'm really glad you like the posts. (It's really too bad so few people are active in this comm now...)

Yes, very true.

And those interests really don't include human rights...
