No buddy, making it so that everyone has access to an essential service and making it so that corporations can't make profit of people's misery is just common sense ( ... )

You already pay twice for healthcare because your taxes fund Medicare.

And while reforming Medicare needs to happen that wasn't the point of my statement.

I don't get Medicare right now, why should I pay twice for healthcare I do get?

The point is that whether or not Medicare is expanded to cover all age groups, you'll still be paying twice. Would you rather pay for two things you can use immediately or one thing?

Then it shouldn't be expanding. As it stands right now paying into Medicare is like paying for retirement much the same way social security is and I'm okay with that, (they both needs reform but that is a different topic). But once more why should I pay twice for the healthcare I'm getting now?

I'd just like to point out someone can have a different view than yours and still be educated.

Now you'll note a not point have I said single payer can't work, only that I don't wait it nor support it. It is not the only choice.

Also at no point did I say the system as it stands in the U.S. is perfect. In fact at several points I've said their needs to be more regulation because their are problems. But I believe that market forces, consumer choice and government regulation are the answer, not government takeover. Clearly we disagrees and I'm okay with that.

And while I will not support a single play system I would like the U.S. to do something closer to the German model and I personal believe that the ACA was a good start in that direction, yes we have a ways to go but it's better in my view.
